Beach Meditation

When I ring the bell, we will start the experience.  I will ring it 3 times at the beginning and 3 times as we return to this space.

Today is an ocean mediation.  We will journey into the ocean. Know that you can always substitute water with any another element during this meditation but I will be guiding us with water images.

Get comfortable. Sit in a supportive chair or lie on your back. Let me know if you can’t hear me well and I’ll try to speak up.

Ring Bell 3 X

Relax your body by releasing any areas of tension. Allow your arms to go limp... then your legs....Feel your arms and legs becoming loose and relaxed...

Now relax your neck and back by relaxing your spine.... release the hold of your muscles all the way from your head, down your neck....along each vertebra to the tip of your spine... be sure to relax your jaw and tongue

Breathe deeply into your diaphragm, drawing air fully into your lungs.... and release the air from your mouth with a whooshing sound....

Breathe in again, slowly.... pause for a moment.... and breathe out.....Draw a deep breath in.... and out....Become more and more relaxed with each breath....

Feel your body giving up all tension.... becoming relaxed.... calm.... peaceful....

Imagine allowing your entire body to rest heavily on the surface where you sit or lie.  In this scene you are walking toward an ocean with a beach… this meditation is totally voluntary and if you are called to travel somewhere else, feel free. Walk toward your imagined scene.

You can hear the gentle waves up ahead....feel the warmth of the sun,  you can smell the ocean spray.... the air is moist and warm.... feel a pleasant, cool breeze blowing….

You walk along coming closer to the sea....you see the brilliant aqua color of the ocean ahead....

You walk onto a long stretch of white sand.... the sand is very soft, powdery.... imagine walking through the warm white sand toward the water with your bare feet... how does this sand feel to your toes, to you?

You gaze again toward the water, and see the gentle waves washing up onto the sand..... then, receding back toward the ocean.... washing up.... and flowing back down..... enjoy the ever-repeating rhythm of the waves… the tide

Now, imagine yourself walking toward the water....

A wave washes toward you.... and touches your toes before receding...

As you step forward, more small waves wash over your feet... feel the water and its beckoning to you…. if you agree to enter into this adventure,  walk further into the clear ocean water.... you can see the white sand under the clear water.... the water is a pleasant, relaxing temperature....

You walk further into the water... feeling calm and refreshed...

As you walk into the water, you decide to put your head under to look around. As you look around, notice that a being approach you, maybe a sea creature, small or large, maybe a goddess, or a person, just visualize whatever being wants to come toward you and imagine who or what that is. PAUSE. Notice that the being wants you to follow it into the water and you agree to go. You enter the water, the gentle waves are soothing today, not rough or crashing hard. You glide on top of the water and watch the being swim further into the deep.  You try to follow, finally putting your head under the clear blue green water. Without any preparation on your part, gills sprout out of your neck allowing you to breathe underwater. How unique, you wonder, flowing along….

What is this being showing you in this lovely water today? Are you hearing any messages from this being? What do you sense?  How does being in this water, following this creature feel? Pause. Imagine that this being offers you a gift.  See what this being is teaching you as you move further into the ocean. What do you see? Take a few moment just to revel in this adventure…

Now, it is time to swim or float back to shore slowly and gently, leaving the being in the deep water, thanking it for its message, gift, or its teaching, as you return slowly to the beach……pause …..

As you arrive at the beach, slowly climb up onto the sand and feel the sun on your body. Turn around facing the ocean once more, thanking the ocean for this experience before wandering back into this space where we have gathered.  As you return to our circle, take some moments to breathe air, wiggle your toes, your fingers, etc
