Underground Cave Meditation
Ring the. bell three times.
Please close your eyes if you are willing or let them sag at half mast. I have some guiding words in this meditation, but what is important is for you to take your own journey and feel free to tune me out, and go into whatever space is calling you. I will be talking some with some pauses and don't want to hinder your experience.
Let’s take in a breath filling up your lungs and diaphragm (deep breath in) and exhale slowly through your mouth (I exhale with a whoosh). And then take another deeper breath in, hold it a moment, and then gently exhale that breath out. As you breathe, let yourself notice any parts of you that may be tense or needing nurturance. If you do notice any, breathe into those spaces and places and let the cool air gently become warm as it moves through your body while you send soothing energy to those parts. Continue to breathe gently and deeply just a few moments.
We will be moving over ground and underground today, seeking parts of ourselves that we may have met a few times or not. Let yourself be curious about whatever you witness here. Breathe deeply. Pause.
As you relax, please follow me into a mountain forest where we will be viewing all sorts of plant and tree life, moss and fungi, and any beasts or beings that come by. What does your forest look like, feel like? Any smells? Pause.
We wander into a forest together in this group, we move up into the hills. Still breathing slowly and deeply. As we climb, we begin to see a cave entrance, and we walk toward it. This cave entrance greets us calmly and we decide to wander inside the cave. As we wander, we are glad we have flashlights and extra batteries, in case we need more light. It gets darker and darker in the cave, and as our circle moves forward, we turn on our flashlights and look around us. What do you see around you in the cave? Anything interesting? Pause. Wandering further, what do you see, what do you hear, do you see any objects? Pause.
Soon, we are moving downward slightly, aware that we hear water below us. As we continue, we see a small spring-fed pond, its water rippling gently. We all sit at the edge of the water and relax, breathing in and out, slowly and gently. Just relaxing. Pause.
Now, I want you to picture an image, or notice what you are feeling and experiencing. Let yourself move into that experience and see what you see, or just notice your feelings while in this experience. You are not alone here and if you need help, you can ask for it. Let’s breathe deeply again noticing how your body is feeling during this experience. Pause. Any body parts that need attention or do you feel any physical energy at all? If so, just notice. Pause.
Now, you may see a presence coming toward you, becoming clearer and clearer to you. The presence may be a person, a symbol or icon, a geometric shape, or an animal, whatever comes to you. Just be with that presence for a moment. Pause.
You can ask the presence what message it has for you. And, the message can come in any form, it can be an object, a vibration or sound, colors or words, manifesting in any way at all. What do you imagine this presence is sharing with you? Gently breathe as you receive this message. Pause.
Having received this message, please thank the presence for its offering, as the presence slowly leaves you. Thank the cave and the pond and each other for being here with you. How does all of this feel? Pause.
Now, we plan to move back up from the cave pond toward the cave’s opening. We tread slowly and carefully, taking with us any treasures we have found along the way. As you come closer to the cave’s opening, you can sit quietly and breathe some more, coming back into our space together, slowly feeling your toes and wriggling your fingers, taking your time, as you return to this present time with us in this meeting.
Ring bell 3 times.
