(Brief) Grounding Meditation
Some of these words are taken from Dream Mullick: https://www.dreammullick.com/
dream@dreammullick.com and some of these words are mine. Ring the bell 3 times.
In this moment, take a pause from whatever's occupying your mind and time, wherever you are… sitting, lying down or standing….
“….feel your feet...feel the 26 bones in each foot…all 33 joints...the ligaments, muscles, and tendons…. Feel your feet resting on the surface, meeting the floor or the earth below you…. meeting the vast network of millions of miles of mycelium connecting you to the earth, connecting us to each other…the 300 miles of mycelium beneath each and every footstep you take…
you are that connected...we are that connected…”
As you focus on your feet and the ground beneath your feet, notice the sensations in your feet. Pause. You can listen to my guidance about breathing during this meditation, or go on your own journey. We will begin to breathe slowly in through our noses, pulling the air throughout our whole bodies upwards, downwards and even in those in-between spaces, finally coming to fill up our feet with sweet air. Then, as you exhale, we will let all of the breath leave our feet and leave our organs, blood, water, and space inside us, letting go of any toxins, any negative energies inside us, letting them flow out with our exhale. So we will start breathing in, up and down, throughout our bodies moving to our feet. Let’s also exhale air out of every pore we have. Letting go….. Let’s do this type of breathing for just a few minutes…. (In a minute and 1/2, read the following).
As we center ourselves and all of our parts in the connection between us and the earth, between us and the air around us, we notice we are not alone, we are not separate….. we are connected to all of the energies inside us and around us. Sometimes we absorb distressing outside energies which can be so overwhelming that we feel sick, tired or despairing. And, then we can also absorb healing energy and feel our bodies breathing in light, love, kindness and compassion as well. Let’s keep breathing just for a few more moments to practice drawing in air and letting go of whatever we have absorbed that we no longer want or need, and bringing into us those energies that nurture and comfort us well.
Breathing in and out, slowly, gently. I will ring the bell when it is time to come back into the circle in a couple of minutes.
Ring bell and say: We thank the air we breathe and the energies we breathe in and out as we return to our circle.
