Sounding or Toning Meditation
Let’s relax with each other out here in this beautiful world, breathing and smelling and seeing and hearing amazing amounts of energy. We may add to that sound if you are willing.
If you have been an Art and Soul participant, you may have heard about toning or spirit singing or you may have participated in it elsewhere. My A & S first workshop with this type of sounding helped me realize how very anxious I am to sing or tone solo in front of people. You may feel similarly or you may be like others of us here who perform beautifully with others.
A side note: I talked with Psychic Frank @ Chrsyalis a few weeks ago and he told me about the zeal chakra which is said to be opening up these days. Here is a little bit about zeal chakra which is one of two extra chakras that some people talk about. This is from Good Witches Homestead: “The Zeal Chakra (also referred to as “The Mouth of God” or “The Well of Dreams”) is located at the back of the neck and the base of the skull, where there is an indention. It is an ancient chakra that has been dormant but is now beginning to awaken. Its color ray is magenta. When it is fully activated, this center will regulate multi-dimensional telepathic communication. Awakening the Zeal Chakra assists the kundalini in rising, and you experience an increase in clairvoyance, clairaudience, astral travel, vivid dream recall, healing abilities, empathy, and telepathy.” In the sauna on Saturday, I had a huge desire to share all this with you including some sounding or toning. Then I saw a snake in my garden that day too, talk about vibrational and kundalini energy! Frank says that sound vibrations open up not only the throat chakra but the zeal chakra. What could be better than that?
Joy Gardner says about toning and vibrational healing: “Toning—the sustained, vibratory sounding of single tones, often vowel sounds, without the use of melody, rhythm or words—is quickly becoming a valuable tool for spiritually awakening people. Bypassing language entirely, toning allows us to express the heart and soul directly, quieting the over-active left brain.”
So, again, if you are willing, please join with me by doing some deep and cleansing breathing along with some toning. You can participate or not. What a we will be doing will be group spirit singing so if you are shy like I am (about singing) you will just be part of the group song. When we are ready, I will start that part of this meditation with the bell, and then offer my note or tone. You can join in with any note you want to, we often move gently from one note to another and keep it up for a few minutes, so breathe when you need to, and stay with one note or tone several, but again, not with melody or words. Usually, in my experience, toning comes to an end organically but if not, I may ring the bell again so we can wind down. I love this practice! Please listen also to the beautiful, amazing, and sometimes complicated sounds that may join together, creating all sorts of vibrational intrigue and aliveness.
Any questions?
Ring bell 3 times.
Feel free to close your eyes or leave them half mast, know that this is not a time to be judgmental of anyone, especially yourself. And, although we have close neighbors, they will not care that we are singing and dogs may bark as well. Let’s just begin by breathing slowly and gently through our noses, inhaling the energy around us, and exhaling through our mouths, letting go of any negative energies attached to us or inside us. Let’s breath slowly and then more deeply over a few moments. Relax your tongue, relax your body and mind, and heart, and just breathe…..
Now, feel free to join in with me and keep toning whatever comes up. All sorts of stuff may come up for you, or not. Keep toning as long as you feel comfortable or just sit quietly and take in the sounds.
We may do this practice more than once, depending on what ya’ll want to do, and I can ring the bell at the ending while we return to the group, gently opening our eyes.
